ScanCabinet Privacy Policy

ScanCabinet is a document scanning and organizing app. Basic scanning and the local library work without an account.

Documents and local storage

Scanned and imported images, generated PDFs, document names, categories, tags, stamps and settings are stored on your device. On Android 10 and newer, the app also saves a copy of page images in the visible Pictures/ScanCabinet album. Your gallery and other apps with photo access may see those copies. Android's system share, print and export actions send a file when you choose a destination.

Optional account

If you create or use an account, your email address and authentication information are processed through Google Firebase Authentication to register, sign in, verify your email and reset your password. Your password is submitted to Firebase Authentication over an encrypted connection; ScanCabinet does not store it in its document library. Signing in does not back up or sync scans. You can use local scanning without signing in.

Scanner and device access

Camera scanning uses Google's document scanner through Google Play services. Gallery import uses Android's picker and accesses images you select. The scanner component may download required software through Google Play services. ScanCabinet uses selected images and completed scans for its local document workflow.

Optional cloud backup

Signing in alone does not upload your documents. If your Cloud + Pro entitlement is verified and you explicitly enable cloud backup, ScanCabinet sends document images and library metadata to your private account in Google Firebase Cloud Storage and Firestore. The app can restore that cabinet when you sign in on another device. You can turn off future backup in the app; deleting your account requests deletion of account cloud data. Keep your own copies of important scans until the app confirms a successful sync.

Purchases and messages

Google Play processes one-time and annual purchases. ScanCabinet sends purchase identifiers and tokens to its Firebase backend to verify entitlements with Google Play; it does not receive your payment card details. Account verification, password reset and optional service messages may be sent by Firebase or our email provider to your account email.

Advertising

A forthcoming app update may show a Google AdMob banner on the Free plan. Paid Pro plans do not show this banner. When enabled, Google's advertising and consent tools may process device identifiers, IP address, ad interactions and diagnostics for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention according to your privacy choices and applicable law. Where required, the app asks for your choice before requesting ads and provides a way to revisit that choice in its Menu. See Google's advertising information.

Retention and deletion

Local documents remain on the device until you delete them, clear the app's data or uninstall it. Uninstalling can delete the private library. Visible album copies and exported files may remain and can be deleted using your device's file or gallery app. The Account screen lets you delete your Firebase Authentication profile. If Firebase requires a recent sign-in, sign in again and retry. Deleting an account does not automatically delete local scans or album copies. Sharing and security

ScanCabinet uses Android app-private storage for its working library and an Android file provider for files you explicitly share. Files placed in the visible album or sent to other apps are governed by those destinations' access and privacy settings.
